Charlie Willeto

Charlie Willeto (1900-1964) was born and lived in New Mexico his entire life. He lived as a Navajo sheepherder and only began carving in the later years of his life. He carved his wooden figures to barter at a local trading post in order to purchase groceries. He created more than four hundred figures, all of which exist to this day and can be found all throughout the Southwest.
