This is an early 20th century Navajo pictorial textile from the Teec Nos Pos region woven entirely in hand spun native wool in natural ivory, dark brown, hand carded grey, tan, and hand dyed aniline red. The textile features an elaborate design with three rows of vertically stacked ornate geometric motifs. Feathers, abstracted arrows, and two human like faces make this weaving a pictorial and add even more complexity to the already ornate design. The wide border features six sided geometric design that repeats all around on a dark brown background. This textile comes from the collection of Jed & Ed Foutz former owner operators of the Shiprock Trading Post on the Navajo Reservation.
