This is a late 19th century Navajo Germantown sampler textile woven entirely in commercially spun and dyed wool in ivory, red, teal, and purple. The central design features two stacked serrated diamonds at center with a vertical serrated column on either side, all done in alternating bands of ivory teal and purple on a red background. The textile is further ornamented with various silver and turquoise jewelry items, including blouse tabs, buttons, earrings, pins, and a bracelet, as well as two small navajo dolls. The textile is bordered at top and bottom by fringe in alternating colors. Provenance: ex. Russel Foutz Indian Room
