This is a contemporary ceramic sculpture titled "Tracker" by Cochiti Pueblo artist Virgil Ortiz. This piece was originally featured in an exhibit and sale titled "Revolt" in 2009 at Shiprock Santa Fe. The sculpture is made in native clay and paints and has an alien form with four legs, two arms and horn shaped protrusions at the shoulders and on the legs. Two long bundles of horse hair hang from the chin and sprout from the top of the head. The figure holds "trophies" of conquistador helmets and crosses in each hand. The piece is clearly signed and dated on the base.
