Navajo Twill Double Saddle Blanket, c.1900

Item: AOR5392C
Material: handspun wool
Size: 50" x 31"
Period: Historic
Origin: Navajo

This is a late 19th to early 20th century Navajo twilled double saddle blanket hand woven entirely in native wool in natural ivory, dark brown, and hand carded grey. The diagonal twill adds a textural design to an otherwise undecorated saddle blanket. In the field two pairs of white lines separate the grey field into three broad horizontal bands. The textile is in very good condition with all tassels intact.
