This is an early 20th century Navajo rug from the Teec Nos Pos region woven entirely in hand spun wool in natural ivory, hand carded grey, hand dyed vegetal brown, and hand dyed aniline black. The overall design consists of thick vertical bands, the centermost decorated with valero star and scrolling motifs, with a band of gray on either side decorated with scrolling "X" motifs in alternating colors. The outermost bands are done in black, decorated with white "M" and arrow motifs. A thin band of black borders the top and bottom.
