Charlie Willeto (1897-1964) was a renowned Navajo medicine man and folk artist who transformed his lifetime of experience carving Navajo illness dolls into a vibrant folk art tradition. This standing figure, representing a man with upraised arms wearing a western style shirt, is a wonderful example of the energy inherent in his work. Willeto had a short, yet prolific career.
