Size: 7 1/2" x 6"

Origin: Cochiti Pueblo

This is a late 19th century traditionally made and fired Cochiti pottery figure in the form of a dog with open mouth and outstretched tung. The dog is in a seated position with his two back legs implied under the body while the front two legs are out stretched. Painted decoration includes a floral like collar, rings around the eyes, spots along the snout, and a human figure on it's back. While human figures were more common in this early period many animal forms were made as well.
