This is a late 19th century Navajo twill double saddle blanket woven entirely in native hand spun wool in natural ivory and hand dyed aniline red and black. The diagonal twill technique emphasized the repeating design on vertical zigzags of ivory outlined in black on a red field. A single horizontal stripe of black at the top and bottom serve as a simple border.
