In this piece Sheldon Harvey has incorporated an image by Japanese photographer Kenji Kawano which depicts a Navajo woman at Shiprock Fair holding her child in a cradleboard, as well as an image of a Tokay whiskey bottle. These images have been screen printed in the style of Andy Warhol. Kenji, a close friend of Sheldons, is a Japanese artist living on the Navajo reservation, and actively covering Native life through his lens traveling as far as Lakota country to cover the Dakota Access Pipeline fight. Sheldon Harvey has used the image of the Tokay bottle, a whiskey that was delivered to Native people, and for many has been a contributing factor to alcoholism on the reservation. This is a political piece with deep meaning to Sheldon.
