Tom Emerson, Found Object "Qoral" Figure

Item: NFA1051C
Material: various

Period: Contemporary
Origin: American
Artist: Tom Emerson

This queen’s wild torso is a glob of silicone from a tube. A single piece of wire pierces Qoral’s body at her shoulders and then coils around a couple of twigs from a tree to make Qoral arms. Qoral’s left leg is a plastic straw glued over a needle that extends into her body. Right leg is the coily shred that often spins out of steel when a hole is drilled into it. There is a needle glued inside here as well. Her head is a piece of coral and her headdress/hair is a bit of an old faux snow leopard scarf, which I still have.
