This is an early to mid 20th century Navajo Third Phase Revival Chief blanket woven entirely in native hand spun wool in natural ivory, dark brown, hand carded grey, and hand dyed aniline red, orange, and blue. The design, inspired by earlier wearing blankets, has a background of horizontal bands in alternating colors, with three rows of serrated diamonds. In the corners the diamonds are quartered and along the sides halved while the center most is full in the typical fashion of a Third Phase Chief pattern.
