Jimmy Begay

After being born in California in 1954, his father retired from the army and moved the family back to Gallup, NM, where Jimmy grew up and learned the art of silversmithing. In 1980, Jimmy moved to Santa Fe, and became the in-house jeweler at Wind River Trading Company until 1999. In 1999, he returned to Gallup to reside, continuing to make frequent visits to Santa Fe to visit his many clients and customers. Jimmy perfected his skills over the years, and now is one of the most competent and skilled Navajo silversmiths known. In addition to making his own unique designs, he also handles repair and conservation of vintage and contemporary Native American jewelry for many galleries across the country.
