Tommy "TC" Cannon (1946-1978) was born in Oklahoma and is a mixture of Kiowa, Caddo and Chactaw heritage. His paintings reigned in a new era for Native American art as he featured three dimensional subjects instead of the flat two dimensional pieces used by his predecessors. He worked on both canvas and murals and lived throughout the southwest until his death. He was not only an accomplished painter, but a poet as well. It was his intellectual curiosity that propelled his art.
