This is a late 19th to early 20th century Navajo leather saddle with tack decoration. Based on the form of a pack saddle, Navajo saddle were very simple in there composition with a blunt pommel and a half circle seat connected by a thin leather strap. The seat and the pommel are heavily decorated with brass half round tacks that show extensive wear. The cinch in intact as well as the stirrups. This saddle comes from the Foutz collection and was part of the Shiprock Trading post inventory for generations.
