Twenty Years of Shiprock Santa Fe

Packed away and carefully stored for years, we are pleased to present a show of textiles near and dear to our heart. As a fitting commemoration of our twenty year anniversary, Shiprock Santa Fe celebrates this milestone with an exhibit of Diné weavings depicting Tse Bit’a’í, the “Rock with Wings”, also known as Shiprock.

Rising above the high desert plains of the Four Corners, Shiprock commands the skyline for miles around. Those in its shadow are inevitably captivated and inspired by its commanding presence. Representations of Shiprock take many forms; whimsical, abstracted or realistic, the woven interpretations are as individual as the artists who made them.

This exhibit serves as the unofficial start to our summer season, and is the first in a series of long-simmering shows that we are so excited to share with you.
