Base Made Precious: Copper and Brass in Native Jewelry 1880-Present
Copper has been produced and worked by Native communities in the Southwest for centuries, predating silversmithing by hundreds of years. Used for both ornamentation and tools, copper is a base metal rendered precious by human creativity and ingenuity. Shiprock Santa Fe has been collecting vintage copper and brass material for over fifteen years, and we are pleased to unveil this long awaited show.
