This is an early 20th century pueblo jar with two large antler fetishes in the form of Kolowisi (plumed water serpents) by the Zuni artist Teddy Weahkee. The jar was likely made at Acoma pueblo in the traditional manner by coiling and pit firing but has been adapted here by the artist who originally covered the entire surface in crushed turquoise. This coating of turquoise has since fallen away leaving only the remnants of the pitch that was used to apply the stones. Attached around the shoulder are two large fetishes made of antler with attached feathers and beads. The piece is unsigned and attributed to Teddy Weahkee based on the distinct carving style.
