This is an early to mid 20th century Zuni turquoise bear fetish by Leekya Deyuse. The simple bear form with short tail, defined ears, eyes, and mouth is carved in a single piece of natural native turquoise in bright blue with brown matrix. Attached to the bear with sinew is a bundle that includes a shell carved in arrowhead form with coral beads and clam shell heishi. The fetish came to us from a prominent Native American collector in Massachusetts.
