Charles Lovato (1937-1987) was a printmaker, ceramicist, poet and jeweler from Santo Domingo Pueblo. His jewelry is recognized as being some of the finest work to come from that community, and his innovations in design and execution in jewelry were honored posthumously at the Wheelwright Museum. This extremely fine necklace is made from a combination of gold, turquoise, white clamshell and olive shell, painstakingly strung together to create an ombre effect.
