Lloyd Kiva new was a pioneering Native American fashion designer and co-founder of the Institute of American Indian Arts. He based his handbag designs on traditional Native pouches, and collaborated with White Hogan on this design. The White Hogan, a groundbreaking Navajo artist collective, began in 1950, in Scottsdale, AZ. Renowned for its exquisite modernist silver designs, Kenneth Begay was the most noted artist in the group. Begay worked at the White Hogan for 12 years and is known as the father of modern Navajo Jewelry. This piece features chiseled, stamped and overlay sterling silver handle and removable Concho pin on buttery soft dark brown lambskin.
