This is a mid 20th century hand carved cottonwood root Hopi kachina doll representing the Hu kachina or Owl kachina. The doll has an animated pose with arms outstretched and is draped in a leather shawl. The large mask is entirely covered in feathers and is decorated with a carved beak, protruding eyes, and feather fans on both sides. The doll is unsigned.
