This is an early 20th century Navajo rug woven entirely in native hand spun wool in hand carded gray, and hand dyed aniline red and orange. The design consists of two vertical rows of stacked diamonds, made up of stepped intertwining bands in alternating colors. The field is further decorated by short horizontal lines of barber pole stripes down the center, all on a red field. The textile is bordered only along the sides by serrated bands alternating in gray and orange.
