This is an early 20th century Navajo textile from the Red Mesa Trading Post region woven entirely in native hand spun wool in natural ivory, dark brown, hand carded grey, and a variety of hand dyed aniline colors including, dark red, navy blue, orange, and two shades of green. The textile has an elaborate border of stacked directional crosses inside "T" forms of alternating dark brown, and grey. In the field is a central vertical band of heavily serrated diamonds with interior crosses. The diamonds are further ornamented with radiating zig zag lines with heavy serrates and all with outlines in bright colors. The textile is in excellent condition and comes from the collection of Ed & Jackie Foutz, former owner/operators of the Shiprock Trading Post on the Navajo Reservation. They purchased the textile from well known Navajo Textile dealer in Arizona, Tyrone Campbell.
