This is a late 19th century Rio Grande blanket woven entirely in hand spun wool in natural ivory and a variety of hand dyed aniline colors including various shades of red, purple and yellow. Textiles from Northern New Mexico were woven in two long panels on a treadle loom and then either hand woven together or sewn along the interior seam. The design is composed of a series of horizontal bands of alternating thickness in alternating stripes of color.
