This is a late 19th to early 20th century Navajo rug from the Ganado region, woven entirely in native hand spun wool in natural dark brown, hand carded grey, and hand dyed aniline red. The design features a large red diamond with a cross motif at center on a grey background. The field is further decorated by diagonal bands of red and brown at each corner, and is bordered by sawtooth bands of red and brown along each side and rows of red triangle motifs across top and bottom.
