An early to mid 20th century Navajo rug woven entirely in hand spun wool in natural ivory, gray and over dyed dark brown. The blanket is unusually square in shape with a design inspired by the "Chief Joseph" blanket first produced by Pendleton in the early 1920s. The layout features three rows of three elaborate stepped and serrated diamonds with diluted stepped diamond motifs comprised of small triangles between them, all in ivory and gray on a dark brown background.
