A mid to late 19th century Navajo woman's Second Phase chiefs blanket woven entirely in hand spun wool in natural ivory, dark brown, gray, indigo dyed blue and aniline dyed red and pale yellow-green. The design is typical of this style with a background of stripes in dark brown and gray and three broad horizontal bands of red across top, bottom and center. The red bands are further decorated with two columns of thin bands alternating in indigo and dark brown. Provenance: The J.K. Moore Collection, Fort Washakie Trading Post, WY, thence by descent through the family.
