This is a contemporary pair of gold earrings with inlay by Hopi jeweler Sonwai(Verma Nequatewa). The earrings have an overall shield form and feature a horizontal band of vertically striped inlay alternating in ebony, coral, shell, and turquoise across top and a single triangular setting of fossilized ivory below, separated by gold line. The artist's hallmark is clearly visible on the reverse.
