This is a mid 20th century Navajo pictorial runner purchased from Hubbell Trading Post in the 1960s. Woven in hand spun wool in ivory, gray, vegetal dyed browns, a variety of hand dyed aniline colors and commercial 4 ply yarn. The design features a cornstalk motif and birds at the the center, with ornate geometric designs above and below, all on a gray field. The central design is bordered by radiating bands of hook motifs and zig-zags in alternating colors.
