This is a late 19th century olla from Tesuque Pueblo with a terraced rim and figural painted design. In the mid body design band two bears with lightning projecting from the mouths are flanked by avanyus that face in the same direction. Stars float throughout the entire painted design and fill the space between the avanyu's tails. In the design band above the shoulders two very different serpents undulate around the jar and also have lightning coming from their mouths. Other designs included stepped and stacked clouds.
